About

Bryan Gentry is a Newark-based Director of Photography whose work bridges cinematic storytelling with cultural depth across feature films, television, documentaries, and branded content. Since launching his career in 2013 with Discovery ID’s The Perfect Murder, Gentry has become known for his expressive visual style and skillful command of light, tone, and mood.

His recent work includes the Peabody Award-winning documentary series Stax: Soulsville, USA, and the feature-length music documentary Luther: Never Too Much, which earned him a Black Reel Award nomination for Outstanding Cinematography. He also served as Director of Photography on HBO’s critically acclaimed civil rights docuseries Eyes on the Prize: We Who Believe in Freedom Can Not Rest —a powerful reimagining of the iconic PBS series that explores America’s ongoing struggle for racial justice.

Gentry’s lens captures both legacy and truth, bringing bold visuals and emotional nuance to stories that resonate across generations. His work continues to elevate voices, icons, and untold narratives through compelling and cinematic visual language.
